Aarogya Setu App Hits 50 Million Users in 13 Days of Launch

The government’s mobile app Aarogya Setu, which was built to monitor patients with the coronavirus, reached the milestone of 50 million users in just 13 days after its launch.

Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said on Wednesday, this application became the fastest device in the world to cross 50 million downloads in just 13 days. In his address to the nation on 14 April, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on people to download the device.

This software is designed to help monitor coronavirus spread and to make its knowledge available to ordinary people. This unique app also helps find out about good corona people present in the vicinity.

This app asks you if you have a cough, fever or difficulty breathing etc. after downloading. You should be in the Green Zone if you don’t have any of those issues.

The ‘Aarogya Setu‘ tracking device, established by the National Informatics Center under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, is already available on Google Play Store on Android smartphones and the iPhone App Store.

Ensuring that the data is encrypted, the app uses your location to know the area from which you are in the infected database areas and even needs an active Bluetooth to decide whether you were within six feet of the infected person.

You will need to register with your mobile number after you download the device. Later the app will have an option to enter your health stats and other credentials, and 11 languages are supported by the app.

Meanwhile, with the country’s total Covid-19 cases rising to 12,456, and so far there have been reports of as many as 423 deaths in the nation.
