Apple May Use Qualcomm’s Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor in a 2020 iPhone

Sources expect that Apple will use the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor technology from Qualcomm in the upcoming 2020 devices.

The 2020 iPhones will feature a brand new model, 5 G connectivity, an OLED display panel and improved RAM capacity.

Apple plans to use an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor developed by Qualcomm in one of its phones, which will be launched next year, according to the study.

Qualcomm supplies Samsung‘s Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 smartphones with ultrasonic fingerprint sensors as of now.

Qualcomm recently unveiled its new 3D Sonic Max fingerprint reader at its third annual Snapdragon Technology Summit. The new fingerprint sensor on display is 17 times larger than previous versions and measures 20mm by 30mm.

The new ultrasonic 3D Sonic Max fingerprint scanner provides users with a sensing area of 600 square millimeter for two fingerprint authentication.

The company will collaborate with Taiwanese touchscreen manufacturer GIS, according to the news, to create an iPhone that can use the fingerprint sensor technology under-display. It is said to be a full-screen solution for iPhones with under-display fingerprint scanning.

Apple may use Qualcomm’s X55 modems in all of its 2020 iPhones that support both mmWave and sub-6GHz spectrum. All four future iPhone models will have Samsung’s OLED displays that are thinner than Apple’s currently used displays.

There have been strong rumors and leaks about the iPhone 12 series that will use both Face ID and a fingerprint sensor on their upcoming iPhones.
