Instagram Hack

Its been reported that a large number of users are locked out of their Instagram account due to the Instagram hack. User are complaining on twitter about the hack that locks them out of their account and change the username, image and associated email address to an Russian email address.

User are reporting about the bizarre Instagram hack from starting of August. After they are locked out of their when they try to login it show that their username no longer exist.

User have also mentioned that their profile picture are set to Disney or Pixar character with Russian email address “.ru”, all their bios and personal information has been removed.

On Tuesday Instagram said in a blog post that they are investigating of this issue and advising user to keep strong password.

"We are aware that some people are having difficulty 
accessing their Instagram accounts." "We advise you pick 
a strong password. Use a combination of at least six 
numbers,letters and punctuation marks (like ! and &)."
"Revoke access to any suspicious third-party apps and 
turn on two-factor authentication for additional 
security." Instagram mentioned in a blog post.

Till now around 899 account have tweets about the hack on twitter. When we are locked account of out account the easiest way to again access to our account is through the email address on the account, but here even the email address has been changed which make it difficult to regain access to their account.

“If you received an email from us notifying you of a
change in your email address, and you did not initiate
this change – please click the link marked
‘revert this change’ in the email, and then change your
password.” They added.

Instagram are still not sure who is behind the attack if its a one group or ?

Users who didn’t enabled the two-factor-authentication are the victim who are begin hacked. So the added security had helped some of the users.

“We have dedicated teams helping people to secure their accounts. If you have reached out to us about your account, you will hear back from our team soon.” Instagram added in the blog post.
