Instagram Users Will Start Getting Warning Before Posting  ‘Potentially Offensive’ Captions

Instagram announced today that it will carry out a new feature that will alert users before sharing a potentially offensive caption.

Potentially Offensive feature driven by an Artificial Intelligence (AI) will generate a warning or alert that the caption looks similar to others that have been reported.

It will warn the user to edit the caption in the post before sharing as it contains words that is bullying.By modifying it, users have the option to even post the same caption.

“Starting today, we are rolling out a new feature that notifies people when their captions on a photo or video may be considered offensive, and gives them a chance to pause and reconsider their words before posting,” the company mentioned in the blog post.

The app launched a new Restrict feature in October that enables shadow users to hinder their bullies and started using AI last year to eliminate offensive comments and proactively detect harassment in photos and captions.

The company claims that, the results of this found that when given a chance, these types of moves could encourage people to reconsider their words.

The new feature known as Caption Warning will help the users to pause and reconsider their words before posting.

The new feature rolls out to select countries for now, according to Instagram, and will extend internationally in the near future.
