Samsung’s New T7 Touch External SSD Has A Built-In Fingerprint Reader

At CES 2020, Samsung’s announced a new T7 Touch external SSD, which not only enhances the transfer feed and adds more storage, but also includes an embedded fingerprint reader to secure your files.

The new T7 Touch supports highly respectable read speeds of up to 1050 MB / s and write speeds of 1000 MB / s while maintaining the compact, bus-powered form factor that has made Samsung’s drive lineup so common among customers, supporting Windows, Mac, and Android to move large files between your devices.

It also comes with AES 256-bit hardware encryption, which can be unlocked with either a password or a fingerprint swipe. The drive also features an LED status light, in addition to the fingerprint reader, which allows you to know at a glance whether the drive is reading or writing data.

It will be available in the finish of Black and Silver. The size of the Samsung SSD T7 Touch is 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB. From next month in India, it will be available via retail channels, online and offline. The SSD allows backward compatibility with a normal USB Type-C port with USB 3.2 (Gen 2) standard.

It comes with LED Motion, allowing users to determine the device’s status. The SSD comes with aluminum casing, weighs 58 grams, and is backward compatible with USB 3.2.

The Portable SSD’s will be available for the 500 GB model at Rs 11,999, while the 1 TB Rs 18,999 and the 2 TB Rs 36,999. As per the report, Samsung will also make the variant available in the second quarter of 2020 without a fingerprint sensor called Portable SSD T7.
